I'm a Real Democrat.

From the moment I started volunteering for Democratic campaigns back in college, I've been a devoted Democrat.  I'm a former Hays County Democratic Party Precinct Chair and former member of the Hays County Democratic Party Executive Committee.  I'm a proud member of the San Marcos Area Democrats and the Wimberley Valley Area Democrats.  I understand that Texas judges take an oath to defend the Texas Constitution, including the Texas Constitution's right to privacy provision and it's Equal Rights Amendment.

I have Real Experience.

Hays County Court-at-Law No. 2 handles serious criminal cases and needs a judge who doesn't need on the job training.  I've been a criminal trial lawyer for over 35 years.  I began my legal career as a prosecutor, and I have defended those accused of crime as a solo practitioner for over 30 years.  I'm board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in criminal law and have handled literally thousands of criminal cases.  I understand the workings of the Hays County criminal justice system inside and out. 

I believe in Real Change.

Real change doesn't happen just by promising programs that may or may not appear.  It happens when leaders know how to use the tools already at hand to get results right now.  Let's make sure cases, and people, don't fall through the cracks.  Let's make sure that cases get resolved more quickly by setting deadlines for them, because justice delayed is justice denied.  Let's make sure defendants who may have alcohol and drug abuse problems get the help they need by making sure that they have bond status hearings while their cases are waiting to be filed and by having follow up hearings if they are on probation.  Let's make sure victims of domestic violence are protected while cases are pending by using bail bond release conditions to ensure their safety.
